Simba’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ali, has confirmed that the club has received the decision from the TFF Legal and Players’ Status Committee regarding the case they filed against Yanga midfielder Mohamed Damaro.
On Thursday, the TFF committee officially dismissed the case filed by Simba against the player and his club, which questioned the legality of his registration as a local player.
Ahmed explained that Simba’s intention in filing the case was simply to seek clarification on how Damaro was registered as a local player while FIFA’s Transfer Matching System (TMS) still lists him as a Guinean national.
"It was just a small matter of seeking clarification. We asked how a player can be registered as a Tanzanian at club level, but in FIFA’s system (TMS) he is listed as Guinean."
"We wanted to know if this situation is correct. Does Tanzania allow dual citizenship? As it stands, it appears Damaro may have dual nationality."
"Our intention was to understand whether this is permitted, so that we too can follow similar processes for our players to acquire Tanzanian citizenship while still using passports from their original countries," said Ahmed.
Regarding possible next steps, including a move to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Ahmed stated that the club is awaiting the full written ruling and will decide on further action if they are not satisfied with the outcome.
