Recently, Simba Sports Club honorary president and billionaire Mohamed Dewji (‘Mo’) successfully secured an extension for midfielder Elie Mpanzu, who will now remain at Msimbazi for the next two seasons.
The new contract is reportedly worth TSh 1 billion, with Mpanzu set to receive TSh 500 million annually.
Despite some struggles at the start of this season, Mpanzu remains a key player in Simba SC’s squad, and the decision to extend his contract aligns with the club’s long-term goals.
This move is part of the club’s strategy to retain its star players until the end of the season, ensuring stability and strengthening the squad for the coming years.
Mpanzu joins other key players like Yusuph Kagoma and Rushine de Reuck, who also recently renewed their contracts.
In recent seasons, Simba SC has frequently rebuilt its squad during each transfer window, which has sometimes hindered the achievement of the club’s objectives.
However, extending Mpanzu’s contract reassures him of his importance to the club and motivates him to return to top form, helping Simba achieve its goals.
Mo has pledged to Simba fans that he wants to see an African title come to Tanzania. Last season, Simba reached the Confederation Cup final, and only a few steps remain to realize that ambition.
What Simba is doing now is part of a broader strategy to ensure that next season the team competes even more strongly in CAF competitions.
