Simba SC Media and Communications Manager Ahmed Ali has confirmed that the team has returned to Dar es Salaam to finalize preparations for their upcoming NBC Premier League match against Pamba Jiji.
Simba had been in Arusha, where they were scheduled to face TRA United, but the match could not take place after heavy rainfall damaged the infrastructure at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.
Ahmed explained that the team could have traveled directly from Arusha to Mwanza to wait for the match against Pamba Jiji, but the lack of suitable training facilities in Mwanza forced them to return to Dar es Salaam to complete their preparations.
“It is true we could have gone directly to Mwanza from Arusha and set up a short training camp there while waiting for Thursday’s match against Pamba Jiji.
“However, Mwanza has challenges in finding a good training ground, so we decided it was better to complete our preparations here in Dar es Salaam and then travel to Mwanza a day before the match,” said Ahmed.
The Msimbazi Reds are determined to reclaim domestic dominance this season and are treating every match with great importance.
Currently, Simba SC sit fourth in the league standings with 27 points, behind Yanga SC, Azam FC, and JKT Tanzania. However, Simba still have two games in hand against their close rivals Yanga and Azam FC.
If they win those matches, the points gap between them and league leaders Yanga SC would be reduced to just three points. Meanwhile, Yanga and Azam FC played out a draw yesterday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
