Simba SC have put their striker Jonathan Sowah under scrutiny after giving him an opportunity to defend himself against several allegations made against him.
The club’s management is now expected to decide what action to take regarding the Ghanaian forward, who has scored three goals for Simba in the NBC Premier League this season.
Sowah had been suspended over claims of indiscipline and was required to explain several incidents, including arriving late to team meetings, refusing to take part in extra training sessions, and reporting late for training.
The striker was also accused of traveling to Angola for the match against Petro Atlético wearing an SL Benfica jersey instead of the club’s official attire. He was also accused of committing deliberate fouls that could result in red cards, including in matches against Azam FC and Espérance.
At a time when key striker Suleiman Mwalimu is serving a three-match suspension (with two matches remaining), Simba’s management is under pressure to make a quick decision in order to resolve uncertainty in the striker position.
It should be noted that when Simba signed Sowah, they were relying on the form he displayed last season when he scored 13 goals in 14 matches during the second round of the Mainland Premier League while playing for Singida Black Stars.
