The performances of new Simba SC signings Libasse Guaye and Anicet Alain Oura, who joined the club during the January 2026 transfer window, have started to attract attention in the team’s attacking department, with head coach Steve Barker calling for consistency from the duo.
Guaye has scored two goals in five Mainland Premier League matches, while Oura has netted twice in the CAF Champions League. Since arriving at Msimbazi, both players have earned immediate spots in Barker’s starting lineup.
The two attackers have added pace and strength on the wings, making Simba more dangerous in the final third.
“They have started very well. I like how they combine with other players. I strongly believe in overall team performance and how players adapt to different match plans,” said Barker.
Guaye, 22, has featured in seven out of nine matches across all competitions, playing 508 minutes so far. Oura, 26, has appeared in eight matches, accumulating 663 minutes, including five consecutive full 90-minute performances.
One of Oura’s standout moments came in the CAF Champions League against Stade Malien, where he scored the decisive goal that secured Simba’s first and only group-stage win this season.
“It is very important for new players to show competitive spirit. I believe we are heading in the right direction; it’s about continuing to work hard and fight for positive results in the upcoming matches,” Barker added.
In their most recent league fixture, the duo troubled Yanga as Simba avoided a seventh consecutive defeat against their rivals in all competitions.
Following the derby at New Amaan Complex in Unguja, Zanzibar, Simba’s next assignment will be the FA Cup Round of 32 clash against B19 on March 7.
