Simba head coach Steve Barker remains in disbelief that his team did not leave with all three points from the Premier League match against Yanga, played on Sunday at the New Amaan Complex.
Barker blamed referee decisions and the resilience of Yanga’s goalkeeper as the only reasons Simba failed to secure the win, despite dominating their rivals throughout the match.
"If you ask me, I’ll tell you we deserved to leave with more than this single point. We played very well, and I congratulate my players — they gave their all and showed a constant hunger for victory throughout the game."
"We managed to score a goal, but once again the referees disallowed it. I don’t see any reason for the decision. We deserved at least two goals in the first half. I can say their goalkeeper had a great game and also some luck."
"He stopped our chances with his quality, and I am also surprised he finished the match without receiving a card. He wasted a lot of time, lying down whenever we were building attacks. We finish this match and now look ahead to the next games," Barker said after Simba returned to Dar es Salaam yesterday.
According to the revised schedule, Simba’s next fixture is the CRDB Cup Round of 32 match against B19, set for March 8 at Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium.
