The Media and Communications Manager of Simba Ahmed Ali, has said that if all matches had been officiated fairly this season, he believes the current five-point gap between Simba and Yanga would not exist.
Ahmed made the remarks following yesterday’s NBC Premier League clash against Yanga at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, which ended in a goalless draw.
During that match, Simba striker Suleiman Mwalimu scored a goal that was disallowed under controversial circumstances.
Ahmed stated that this was not the first time such incidents had occurred in Yanga’s matches.
Through his social media page, Ahmed posted the following message:
"The current five-point gap at the top of the Premier League table is not due to their superiority.
They should have lost the match against Namungo or at least drawn — everyone remembers what happened in Ruangwa.
In our Derby match, we were denied a clear and unquestionable legitimate goal.
In these two matches alone, they were supposed to drop six clear points, but through questionable means they collected five points that now place them at the top of the league.
Play within your ability. Do not force yourself to be champions when you do not have the capability this season. If you push too hard, you will damage the integrity of the game. Let us practice fair play so that everyone gets what they deserve," Ahmed wrote.
