Simba midfield maestro Clatous Chama has officially been handed back his iconic No. 17 jersey, a number he wore throughout his previous spell with the Msimbazi Reds.
This marks the second time Chama has returned to Simba and reclaimed the shirt number he first donned when he joined the club in 2018.
Kenyan midfielder Mohamed Bajaber had been wearing the No. 17 jersey, but he will now be required to switch to a different number. Bajaber is currently sidelined with injury.
Chama stated that the No. 17 shirt is closely tied to his personal success, which is why he prefers to wear it. He also expressed respect for teammates who understand and appreciate his request.
“I’m happy to wear the No. 17 jersey again at Simba. I promise a good season and full cooperation with my teammates so that we can achieve our goals,” Chama said after Simba’s 2–0 victory over KMC.
Since rejoining the Msimbazi giants during the mid-season transfer window, Chama has immediately secured a place in coach Steve Barker’s squad, with the tactician viewing him as one of the key figures in his team.
