Simba’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ali, has called on the club’s supporters to turn out in large numbers for the CAF Champions League match against Stade Malien, scheduled for Saturday, February 14, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Although the result of the match will not affect the Group B standings, Ahmed stressed that the game is about restoring Simba’s pride and reviving the culture of winning every home match at Benjamin Mkapa.
He added that a victory would demonstrate the team’s progress and boost player morale ahead of upcoming Premier League and CRDB Federation Cup fixtures.
The match will kick off at 7:00 PM, with CAF scheduling the final group matches in each pool to be played simultaneously.
“My only appeal to Simba fans is this — we understand that even if we win this match, it won’t change our position, but winning is important because it builds confidence for the matches ahead.”
“We still have a big fight in the Premier League and the Federation Cup. To move forward with confidence, we must win this game. We’ve beaten Mashujaa, we’ve beaten KMC, but people are still not satisfied. So this match is important to show that we have improved.”
“I also want to apologize to Simba fans. We are used to reaching the quarter-finals, but this year we have fallen short — and that’s part of life. Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you stumble. No one should pretend to care more than others and start insulting our leaders. This is normal. When you fail, you regroup and prepare for the next season.”
Ahmed also announced the ticket prices for the match, urging fans to purchase them early. He clarified that there will be no usual neighborhood mobilization campaign due to scheduling constraints.
“Despite everything, this match has standard ticket prices because we must maintain the stature of our club. We could have made it free, but given our size, we cannot do that. These are the standards you, the fans, have set.”
“Terraces – Tsh 3,000; VIP C – Tsh 5,000; VIP B – Tsh 10,000; VIP A – Tsh 20,000; Platinum – Tsh 100,000. Our opponents Stade Malien are expected to arrive in the country early on the 13th. They will train that same day at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and on the 14th will complete their CAF Champions League group-stage fixture. All match officials are from Malawi and will begin arriving in the country from tomorrow.”
“As for mobilization, we won’t conduct it this time due to the tight schedule. But our biggest motivation is calling on Simba fans not to leave the team alone — come to Benjamin Mkapa and support our team,” he said.
