Simba SC’s Head of Media and Communications, Ahmed Ali, has sent a message of condolence to Simba supporters following the club’s failure to qualify for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals after being held to a 2–2 draw by Esperance.
Ahmed said it has been a difficult season for Simba, especially after the club had managed to reach the quarter-finals for nearly seven consecutive seasons.
He added that Simba will now shift its focus to the remaining two matches to complete the group stage fixtures, before placing greater emphasis on domestic competitions.
Through his social media page, Ahmed shared the following message:
“It has been a bad season for us in international competitions. It hurts, but we have no choice but to accept that this season has been difficult for us.
Just as in other seasons we qualify for the quarter-finals while others fail, this season it has been our turn to fall.
We have no reason to fight among ourselves or look for someone to blame. It is enough to say that this season was not ours, or it was simply not our destiny.
Let us complete the remaining two matches, then shift our full focus to domestic competitions where we still have a strong chance to perform well.
My condolences, my fellow Simba supporters. What we intended to achieve, we failed to achieve this time. Let us accept that this is a bad season for us, and such things happen to any team in the world.
