Simba head coach Steve Barker has said his team is ready for their NBC Premier League match against Mtibwa Sugar, which will be played tomorrow, Sunday, at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking during a press conference earlier today, Barker said he has enjoyed a good period of preparation for the match, having had the benefit of working with a full squad.
He added that his expectation is to see Simba start the year 2026 strongly by winning the match, in order to keep their ambitions of winning the league title this season firmly on track.
βI think the preparations have gone well. We have been doing a lot of work since I arrived here. We need to bring the team back to a better level than where it is now,β said Barker.
βWe now have a full squad after players who were involved in the AFCON 2025 tournament returned. I have all my players available as we prepare for the match against Mtibwa Sugar tomorrow,β he added.
βIt is a very important match for us, as it is our first competitive game of the year 2026. If we are to achieve our goal of winning the league title this season, we must start well tomorrow,β Barker emphasized.
The South African coach also called on Simba supporters to turn up in large numbers to support their team.
βWe need the energy of our fans. They should be behind the team during this period as we work to restore the teamβs confidence and morale,β he said.
βOn the playersβ side, they will need to show fighting spirit and commitment in this match to demonstrate that they deserve to be here and are always ready to fight for the Simba badge,β Barker concluded.
