Simba’s squad has returned to training to begin preparations for their CAF Champions League match against Esperance, which will be played on January 24 in Tunisia, before the two teams meet again in Dar es Salaam a week later.
After being knocked out of the Mapinduzi Cup, Simba head coach Steve Barker granted the players a few days off before the squad returned to camp the day before yesterday to begin focusing on Esperance.
Simba are treating the upcoming two matches against Esperance with great importance, as they could determine the club’s fate in its quest to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.
Barker has made it clear that his team’s objective is to fight for all six points against Esperance.
Simba currently sit fourth in Group D with no points after losing their opening two matches, while Esperance have collected one point.
Petro Atlético and Stade Malien occupy the top two positions in the group, each with four points.
