After a few days of rest, Simba’s squad is expected to enter camp today to begin preparations for their CAF Champions League match against Esperance, scheduled for January 24 in Tunisia.
Simba head coach Steve Barker granted the players time off after the team returned from Zanzibar, where they were eliminated from the Mapinduzi Cup at the semifinal stage following a 1–0 defeat to Azam FC.
Simba will have approximately 13 days to prepare before traveling to Tunisia to face Esperance in one of the crucial Group D matches.
To keep their hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals alive, Simba need either a win or at least a draw away from home and then ensure victory in the return leg, which will be played a week later in Dar es Salaam.
Simba are currently the only team without a point in Group D, which is led by Petro Atlético, followed by Stade Malien, both with four points, while Esperance have one point.
