After a break of nearly three weeks, Simba stars are expected to report back to camp on Sunday to begin preparations for the Mapinduzi Cup, which kicks off on the same day.
Simba head coach Steve Barker is expected to arrive in the country this weekend to officially begin his duties, taking over the position left vacant by Dimitar Pantev.
Barker will have the opportunity to assess his squad during the Mapinduzi Cup before proposing improvements that will be addressed in the mini transfer window expected to open on January 1.
Simba Board of Directors chairman Crescentius Magori said the club will work on the recommendations to be submitted by Barker to ensure Simba stay on the right path toward achieving their objectives.
In the Mapinduzi Cup, Simba will play their first match on January 3, 2026, against Mwembe Makumbi at the New Amaan Complex.
The second and final Group B match will be against Fufuni, scheduled for January 5 at the same New Amaan Complex.
Mlandege and Singida Black Stars will open the tournament on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Ten teams have been drawn into three groups, with Group A consisting of four teams, while Groups B and C have three teams each.
Group A is made up of Mlandege FC, Singida Black Stars, Azam FC, and URA, with the top two teams qualifying for the semifinals.
Group B consists of Simba, Mwembe Makumbi, and Fufuni, while Group C features Yanga, TRA United, and KVZ.
The teams that finish top of Groups B and C will also qualify for the semifinal stage.
