Simba Sports Club are reported to have opened talks with Mtibwa Sugar in a bid to secure the services of goalkeeper Constantine Malimi.
The injury to Yacoub Suleiman has forced Simba back into the transfer market in search of another goalkeeper, as Hussein Abel is currently the only fit option remaining in the squad.
Yacoub has joined Moussa Camara on the injury list, with the club’s management awaiting a medical report to determine how long he will be sidelined.
Malimi has been a key pillar of Mtibwa Sugar’s squad this season, serving as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The shot-stopper played a major role in Mtibwa Sugar’s success last season, leading the team back to the NBC Premier League after winning the Championship title with 71 points from 30 matches.
In that campaign, Mtibwa Sugar won 22 matches, drew five, and lost three, scoring 58 goals while conceding only 18. Malimi finished as the league’s clean-sheet leader with 16 shutouts, helping his team boast the best defensive record.
