Simba Sports Club have opened talks with attacking midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua over a contract extension following reports that the player is being targeted by Moroccan giants Raja CA, it has been revealed.
However, it is reported that Ahoua has taken a firm stance, preferring that renewal talks take place only after his current contract expires.
It should be noted that Ahoua has just six months remaining on the contract he signed in July 2024. This move appears to be a tactical decision, either to push Simba into offering him an improved deal or to force a sale during the mid-season transfer window.
Raja CA are currently coached by former Simba head coach Fadlu Davids, who signed Ahoua last season from Ivory Coast side Stella Club d’Adjame. Under Davids, Ahoua finished as the club’s top scorer and the overall NBC Premier League leading scorer with 16 goals, helping Simba reach the CAF Confederation Cup final.
Ahoua has had a slow start to the current season, losing his place in the starting lineup following changes to the technical bench.
During Fadlu Davids’ tenure at Simba, the midfielder was central to the South African coach’s tactical setup.
The arrival of new head coach Steve Barker could potentially open a new chapter for Ahoua, who believes he deserves a place in the starting eleven, especially given his achievements last season as a key player.
If no agreement is reached, Simba may be forced to sell Ahoua when the mid-season transfer window opens on January 1, 2026, in order to avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.
