Former Simba and Taifa Stars striker and captain John Bocco is on the verge of returning to Msimbazi, but this time in a new role on the technical bench.
The former Kijitonyama Rangers, Cosmopolitan, and Azam FC star spent last season at JKT Tanzania after ending his contract with the Reds of Msimbazi, scoring two goals before fully focusing on coaching duties, which he had already begun while still at Simba.
Bocco, who enjoyed a successful playing career at Simba, is reportedly set to return as a fitness coach to work alongside Mohammed Mrishona ‘Xavi’.
A reliable source close to Bocco has revealed that Simba are in talks with the former striker to strengthen the club’s technical bench.
“Xavi does not currently have an assistant and is now with the national team. Proposals were made and Bocco’s name was approved to be part of the coaching staff to assist him when he returns from national team duties,” the source said, adding:
“Discussions with the former striker, who has already completed fitness coaching courses, are ongoing. We believe he can contribute significantly to keeping the team in top physical condition, as he is experienced and familiar with many of the club’s systems,” the source explained.
