Suspensions have hit Simba this season, with two of the club’s stars, Jonathan Sowah and Allasane Kanté, each handed a five-match ban and fined TSh 5 million following incidents that occurred during a Premier League match against Azam FC.
It is clear that Simba will not face major difficulties in coping without the two players, as there are alternatives in their respective positions. However, it is certain that both players will be available for the first Kariakoo Derby of the season against Yanga, scheduled to be played on March 1.
If there are no changes to the fixture schedule, Simba’s next five league matches will be against Mtibwa Sugar, Singida Black Stars, KMC, TRA United, and Tanzania Prisons.
In the attacking department, Suleiman Mwalimu and Steven Mukwala will shoulder the responsibility of leading Simba in those matches, as they look to continue the good work started by Sowah this season.
Sowah is currently Simba’s leading scorer, having netted three goals in the five league matches the team has played so far.
Naby Camara is expected to be the ideal replacement for Kanté in midfield. Camara is a utility player who has been deployed in various positions within the Simba squad this season.
