As Simba’s leadership continues with the process of searching for a successor to Dimitar Pantev, who was dismissed earlier this month, Wanamsimbazi are hoping the club will now appoint a suitably qualified coach capable of steering Simba safely through the rest of the season.
Although the season has only just begun, Simba have already been coached by four different managers.
It is a fact that frequent coaching changes contribute to disrupting a team’s tactical stability, as each coach arrives with a different football philosophy.
Simba started the season under coach Fadlu Davids, who was in charge for just two matches across all competitions before leaving for Raja CA of Morocco.
Following Fadlu’s departure, Hemed Morocco was handed the responsibility of leading the team in the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League against Gaborone United, a match that ended in a 1–1 draw.
Simba then appointed Dimitar Pantev, who was at the time the head coach of Gaborone United, to take over the role left vacant by Fadlu.
Pantev only managed five matches on the bench before the club’s management dismissed him after defeats in two CAF Champions League group-stage matches against Petro Atlético and Stade Malien.
Suleiman Matola, who at different times this season served as an interim coach, was also given the chance to sit on the bench for three matches.
However, a 2–0 defeat to Azam FC was enough for Simba’s bosses to abandon plans of appointing him on a permanent basis and instead return to the market in search of another coach.
At this stage, Simba need a coach who can stay for a longer period to be given the opportunity to build a strong and stable team.
