Simba Face Contract Decisions as Several Key Players Near Free Agency

As the mid-season transfer window opens, Simba have more than four players whose contracts are also nearing their end, and it may be the right time for the club’s bosses to begin talks to renew their deals before they become free agents once their contracts fully expire at the end of the season.

Attacking midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua, who finished last season as the top scorer in the Premier League with 16 goals, is coming to the end of his two-year contract at the close of this season, and Moroccan giants Raja CA have already started keeping a close eye on him.

Also on the list is attacking midfielder Morice Abraham, who joined at the start of this season on a one-year contract that now has about six months remaining, while attracting interest from other clubs.

The local attacking midfielder was signed by coach Fadlu Davids before the coach moved to Raja Casablanca, and he was given a short contract because he had not played for a long time. However, given the strong impact he has made so far, it is clear Simba would not be pleased to see him leave for another club.

Striker Steven Mukwala is among other players whose contracts are nearing expiry, and he has been linked with interest from North African clubs. Currently, he is away with the Uganda national team at the AFCON 2025 finals, and anything could happen.

Winger Joshua Mutale is another player whose contract is close to ending, and he can be described as someone who has repeatedly survived the axe at Simba during previous transfer windows.

This is the Zambian’s second season at the club, and he started well, often featuring in the Simba squad when it was under the leadership of Dimitar Pantev, whose contract was recently terminated.

Veteran midfielder Mzamiru Yassin, who was handed a two-year contract extension in June last year, now has about six months remaining until its expiry, although he has not been used much in the squad.

Other players such as midfielder Awesu Awesu and full-back David Kameta ‘Duchu’ are also reported to have contracts that will expire at the end of the season.
