Simba’s interim head coach, Suleiman Matola, says a lack of precision in finishing was the main reason behind their NBC Premier League loss to Azam FC at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium yesterday.
Speaking about the match in which Simba suffered their first league defeat of the season, falling 2–0, Matola noted that Simba should have killed off the game in the first half.
"We were the better team for most of the match, we controlled the game and created many chances in the first half,"
"I must say our finishing problem continues to trouble us because we should have decided this match in the first half,"
"We lost concentration in the last 10 minutes and our opponents capitalised on that to punish us. We accept the result and will return to training to fix the weaknesses that appeared," Matola said.
With the league now on break to pave way for Afcon 2025, Simba’s management may take the opportunity to enter the transfer market and make key improvements when the mid-season window opens next week.
