Simba attacking midfielder Mohamed Bajaber has revealed the challenges he faced before finally making his long-awaited debut yesterday in the NBC Premier League match against Mbeya City, where Simba claimed a 3–0 victory.
Bajaber scored the third goal in the match played at the Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium in Mbweni, Dar es Salaam.
The humble midfielder admitted that it was not easy dealing with pressure while recovering from injury.
“Joining a big club like Simba while carrying an injury is not easy. The pressure is huge and it was tough for me, but I thank God for helping me make it through safely,” he said.
“I was preparing myself to play; I kept reminding myself who I am. It’s not easy to stay out for five months—going to training every day and watching your teammates play was difficult.”
“I thank God for enabling me to return and score. I’m continuing to work hard so that I can get stronger and keep bringing joy to our fans,” Bajaber added.
It was almost as if the goal was waiting for him—his first touch of the ball after coming on in the 85th minute ended up in the back of the net.
The Kenyan international also revealed that coach Suleiman Matola had informed him earlier that he would get playing time in the match.
