Simba’s General Manager, Dimitar Pantev, has criticized his players for underperforming in the CAF Champions League match against Stade Malien played yesterday in Mali.
Simba lost the second group-stage match 2–1, putting themselves in a difficult position in the race to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
Speaking shortly after the match ended, Pantev said they lost because the players performed below their expected level.
The Bulgarian manager also addressed the ongoing issue of his attacking line failing to convert chances.
"We have challenges in our attacking department. This has been a long-standing problem. Even in previous CAF matches we did not score, and since I arrived it has not been easy to score."
"If we cannot score, we cannot win matches. The biggest problem is that many of our players are performing below their standard."
"When you look at our team, we have more quality than our opponents. I was not pleased with these results because we were supposed to win this match," said Pantev.
