Simba SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ali, has urged the club’s supporters to maintain their faith in the team despite losing their opening CAF Champions League group-stage match.
On Sunday, Simba suffered a 1–0 defeat to Angola’s Petro Atletico, a result that disappointed many fans who had high expectations for the team this season.
Ahmed stated that although the result was not what they anticipated, it should not demoralize supporters because the journey is still long, with many matches remaining and qualification for the quarterfinals still within Simba’s reach.
“The result we got against Petro is painful, but we must accept it because such things are not new in football. Argentina lost their opening group-stage match at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to Saudi Arabia and everyone was shocked. They didn’t give up or fall apart; they reorganized, corrected their mistakes, and what followed became world history.”
“Fellow Wanasimba, we must not turn against each other or lose hope. We still have a big chance to do well in the upcoming matches. What’s important is returning to training, correcting where we went wrong, and coming back stronger on the battlefield.”
“Let’s not eliminate ourselves from the competition. Let’s talk about everything, but we should not forget to encourage our players and give them strength to fight for us in the next games,” Ahmed said.
Following the defeat, Simba has resumed training in preparation for their next match against Stade Malien, scheduled for Sunday, November 30, in Mali.
