In Just 45 Days, Dimitar Pantev Transforms Simba with Discipline, Speed, and Tactical Clarity

Simba have entered a new chapter within the 45 days since the arrival of General Manager Dimitar Pantev, a coach who has already begun to show signs of success and competitive transformation in a very short time.

Pantev, who officially began his duties in October 2025, came in quietly but has made major decisions that have reshaped the team’s identity, particularly in playing discipline, speed, and player utilization.

One of the biggest changes he has implemented is in the defensive line. The coach rested defender Chamou Karaboue and gave Wilson Nangu a starting role in key matches—an unexpected decision that sparked debate but delivered results.

Nangu, signed from JKT Tanzania in the last transfer window, has emerged as the face of these changes by scoring two goals in the three matches he has played. His partnership with Rushine De Reuck has given Simba newfound defensive solidity while enhancing their ability to build attacks from the back.

Nangu’s impressive performances have earned him another call-up to the Taifa Stars squad, confirming how much he has improved under Pantev.

In the creative midfield area, Pantev has elevated Joshua Mutale, who before the coach’s arrival appeared to be among the players on the verge of being released.

Mutale has now flourished in the number 10 role, displaying speed, composure, and creativity that have made him the first choice in the position. His brilliance has pushed Jean Ahoua—who shone last season—onto the bench, with Ahoua now being used more as a central midfielder.

These changes have increased competition for positions and given Simba a new, structured attacking identity.

Under Pantev, Simba have also developed second-half strength. Players Morris Abraham and Jonathan Sowah have become key weapons in the latter stages of matches.

Morris, when deployed as a number 10, brings speed and defence-splitting passes, while Sowah adds threat up front through scoring or assisting. Their combination has given Simba a dual identity: a controlled first-half outfit and a fast, aggressive second-half team.

Simba under Pantev have also evolved tactically. The team now plays at a higher tempo, seeking to reach the opponent’s goal quickly and accurately. Fullbacks are used as wing-backs, pushing attacks centrally rather than relying on crosses.

A single holding midfielder forms a playmaking triangle with the centre-backs, a structure that has improved Simba’s ball retention and transition speed.

You could say that in just 45 days, Pantev has brought a new vision to Msimbazi. He has rebuilt the defence, revived talent, increased team speed, and instilled the discipline of modern football. This direction gives fans hope that their team is regaining its deserving quality—and perhaps they can start preparing their celebration suits for a title-winning end to the season.
