Simba SC forward Steven Mukwala has had a slow start to the new season, facing stiff competition from fellow strikers Suleiman Mwalimu and Jonathan Sowah.
While Mukwala is still searching for his first goal of the season, Mwalimu and Sowah have already opened their scoring accounts β with one goal for Mwalimu and two for Sowah.
Simba manager Dimitar Pantev started Mukwala in their Premier League match against JKT Tanzania, and the striker may regret not converting the chances he had in that game.
Pantev appears to still be assessing who his main striker will be, but it is clear that Sowah and Mwalimu have made strong impressions so far.
Mukwala, who finished last season with 13 goals, has work to do to secure his place in the starting lineup.
Finishing remains an area he needs to improve, as he must become more clinical in front of goal.
Nevertheless, the Ugandan striker continues to enjoy the trust of his national team, as he is among the players currently on international duty with the Uganda Cranes.
