Simba continued their perfect start to the NBC Premier League season with a 2–1 comeback win over JKT Tanzania in a thrilling match played at the Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium, Mbweni.
Coach Dimitar Pantev’s men were forced to come from behind after a goalless first half, showing great resilience in the second period to secure all three points.
JKT Tanzania took the lead in the 60th minute, but Simba equalized just three minutes later through defender Wilson Nangu, who scored against his former employers.
It was the in-form striker Jonathan Sowah who sealed victory for the Reds of Msimbazi, capitalizing on a defensive error to score the winning goal.
Simba dominated the game for long stretches and could have won by an even bigger margin based on their overall performance.
The victory lifts Simba to the top of the league standings with nine points from three matches — maintaining a 100% winning record this season.
This also marks Pantev’s first league win as Simba’s head coach, having now led the team in three competitive games with two wins and one draw.
Additionally, the result extends Simba’s dominance over JKT Tanzania to seven consecutive victories, with today’s goal being the first JKT have scored against Simba in those seven encounters.
