Simba striker Jonathan Sowah has expressed confidence that the team is well-prepared to perform strongly in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
In the group stage draw held recently in South Africa, Simba was placed in Group D alongside Esperance, Petro Atlético, and Stade Malien.
Sowah, who two seasons ago guided Ghana’s Medeama FC to the group stage of the same competition — scoring three goals during that campaign — said the group is not too difficult, but emphasized the need for hard work and determination to achieve their goals.
He added that Simba has a strong and well-balanced squad this season, featuring players with considerable experience in continental competitions, which helps reduce pressure on the team.
“We are not worried because our squad is complete and of high quality. The key thing is to keep improving since we’ve been adapting to and learning from the coach’s tactical approach,” Sowah said.
“Simba has a deep squad with many players experienced in international competitions, so the pressure won’t be too high on our side,” he added.
The first round of group stage matches is scheduled to be played between November 21 and 23, followed by the second-round matches from November 28 to 30, while the final group matches will take place between February 13 and 15.
Simba will open their campaign at home against Petro Atlético and will conclude the group stage with a home fixture against Stade Malien.
