Simba have put one foot into the group stage of the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) after sinking Nsingizini Hotspurs 3–0 away in Eswatini.
Simba’s General Manager Dimitar Pentev has made a strong start to his tenure, needing only 90 more minutes to complete his first mission — taking Simba into the group stage.
Simba began the match cautiously in the first half, perhaps due to the rain, but Wilson Nangu ensured the Reds of Msimbazi went into the break leading 1–0 with a headed goal in first-half added time.
The “Beast Show” lit up in the second half, with Kibu Denis stealing the spotlight by scoring two more goals in the 82nd and 90th minutes.
One could say this is Kibu’s competition, as he has never let down Simba fans in CAF tournaments.
Although Pentev did not start him today, once he came on he showed why he remains one of Simba’s key weapons in this season’s Champions League campaign.
It is a crucial away win for Simba, and now it would take nothing short of a miracle to stop them from qualifying for the group stage.
Surely those who were beaten away yesterday did not forget to take “notice” from expert Pentev — whom many had dismissed upon his arrival at Simba, thinking that certificates alone are the key measure of a good coach.
