After losing their previous match against Zambia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Tanzania national football team, *Taifa Stars*, will return to action today, Tuesday, in an international friendly against Iran at the Shabab Al Ahli Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two nations. According to the latest FIFA world rankings, Tanzania is ranked 107th, while Iran sits in 21st place.
The large gap in rankings makes this match a significant test for coach Hemed Suleiman ‘Morocco’ and his players.
Both Taifa Stars and Iran head into this encounter after losing their last two matches in different competitions. For Tanzania, they suffered back-to-back 1–0 defeats to Niger and Zambia in the World Cup qualifiers.
On the other hand, Iran lost two consecutive matches—first a 1–0 defeat to Uzbekistan in the CAFA Nations Cup, followed by a 2–1 loss to Russia in a friendly match played in Volgograd.
