Following the government’s decision to suspend the use of Benjamin Mkapa Stadium for Premier League matches, the clubs Simba and Yanga — which had initially been allowed to use the facility — have now been instructed to find alternative venues.
Simba’s management has already made a decision, selecting the General Major Isamuhyo Stadium located in Mbweni, Dar es Salaam, as their new home ground.
The stadium, which is owned by JKT Tanzania, is already equipped with floodlights, allowing it to host evening and night matches.
The venue features a natural grass surface, offering better playing conditions compared to KMC Complex, where Simba were based last season.
Former Simba head coach Fadlu Davids had repeatedly voiced concerns last season about his players suffering injuries due to playing multiple matches on artificial turf.
It is likely that the decision to move to Isamuhyo was influenced by those remarks left by the previous technical bench.
