Simba SC have booked their place in the first round of the CAF Champions League despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Gaborone United at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium today.
Jean Charles Ahoua gave Simba the lead in the first half through a penalty, but Gaborone equalized in the second half, also from the spot.
It was clear that coach Hemed Morocco’s men were not at their usual best. Despite scoring, Ahoua missed several clear chances.
This was the kind of match where progression mattered more than playing attractive football.
Perhaps it is now the right time for Simba’s management to speed up the process of appointing a new head coach, so he can start his duties once the league pauses next week for the FIFA international break.
