Simba centre-back Rushine de Reuck has assured the club’s supporters that despite changes in the technical bench, the players’ goals and commitment to fighting for Simba will not change.
Following the departure of Fadlu Davids, Simba are in the process of finding a new head coach, with Hemed Morocco taking temporary charge of the squad for the CAF Champions League match against Gaborone United this Sunday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
De Reuck, who scored Simba’s opening goal in their recent Premier League match against Fountain Gate, joined the Reds from South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the last transfer window under Davids. He said that coaching changes are part of football, but the duty of the players is to fight for the team.
“I am here for Simba. Coaches may change, but the team remains the same. My job is to give everything and make sure we get results,” said De Reuck, who has impressed since his debut on Simba Day against Kenya’s Gor Mahia and continued to shine in the Community Shield despite Simba’s 1–0 defeat to rivals Yanga.
The centre-back also urged Simba fans to remain confident, stressing that the squad has both the quality and experience to perform on the big stage.
“This is Simba, a big club, and I was fortunate to see what it has achieved in international competitions. We need to stay calm and keep working together, and I believe we will achieve our goals this season,” said De Reuck.
