Simba SC began their 2025/26 Premier League title hunt in style with a commanding 3-0 victory at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
The Msimbazi Reds took control of the game early, with solid defender Rushine de Reuck opening Simba’s goal account for the season in the fifth minute.
From the flow of the match, it was only a matter of how many goals the “Wekundu wa Msimbazi” would score.
Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Jean Charles Ahoua, continued where he left off by adding the second goal, before Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah sealed the win with a third in the second half.
It was an impressive outing for Simba’s new signings, led by Alassane Kante, Rushine de Reuck, Naby Camara, and Morice Abraham — the latter proving his worth after limited opportunities under former coach Fadlu Davids.
The three crucial points mark a strong start to the season for Simba, who now shift focus to their CAF Champions League second-leg clash against Gaborone United on Sunday.
