Simba SC Board Chairman Crescentius Magori has said the club’s success will not be measured only by winning domestic titles, but by capturing the CAF Champions League and earning a spot at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Magori stated that Simba can no longer take pride solely in the NBC Premier League trophy, as the club’s ambitions have risen, now aiming to make an impact on the international stage.
“The growth of our club should not be measured by winning the Premier League alone. That is not something to boast about anymore. Our goal is to win the CAF Champions League and participate in the FIFA Club World Cup. We must reach that stage and challenge the big teams from Europe and elsewhere,” said Magori.
In recent years, Simba have managed to reach the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League and even made a Confederation Cup (CAF CC) final, but they are yet to progress beyond those stages to cement their legacy on the continent.
Magori emphasized that true success for Simba cannot be defined by dominating Tanzania alone, but by joining the ranks of clubs recognized across Africa and the world.
According to the chairman, the path to achieving these ambitions includes investing in an internationally competitive squad, improving football infrastructure, and strengthening the club’s professional management systems.
To demonstrate their intent, last season Simba rose to fifth place in the CAF club rankings in Africa.
Only Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns, Esperance, and RS Berkane sit above Simba in those standings.
