Yesterday, Simba SC investor Mohammed Dewji officially announced the appointment of a new Chairman and Board members, a move interpreted as a strategy to strengthen leadership and internal politics within the club.
Among the changes, Barbara Gonzalez — who previously served as the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) — has returned as a Board member.
Her comeback has stirred a new political wave inside Simba, with some analysts describing it as a strong card played by the investor, aimed at consolidating the club’s power both on and off the pitch.
The other appointed members are said to carry significant business and political influence, signaling Simba’s fresh preparations for major battles — not only in CAF competitions but also in the quest to reclaim domestic dominance, which has been held by their rivals Yanga for the past four seasons.
On the other hand, Barbara’s return — given her acceptance both inside and outside the leadership — is seen as a step towards resolving internal divisions and restoring political strength that had seemingly weakened.
As Simba’s CEO, Barbara led the club to domestic titles and strong performances in continental competitions, including reaching the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Simba fans hold great confidence in Barbara’s appointment, believing that the club’s interests will now be guarded with even greater commitment.
