The Tanzania national football team, 'Taifa Stars', departed early this morning for Brazzaville ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.
The match will be played on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Alphonse Massemba-DΓ©bat Stadium, kicking off at 9:00 PM local time.
Stars currently sit second in Group E with 9 points from five matches. Morocco lead the group with a perfect 15 points, while Zambia (6 points) and Niger (6 points) are tied in third and fourth place. Congo Brazzaville remain bottom without a point after five games.
After the Brazzaville fixture, Taifa Stars will return home to face Niger on Tuesday, September 9, at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.
The squad includes five Simba SC players β Shomari Kapombe, Yusuph Kagoma, and Selemani Mwalimu β as well as new signings Wilson Nangu and Yacoub Suleiman, who recently joined Simba from JKT Tanzania.
