On September 16, the Community Shield match between Simba and Yanga will be played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, kicking off at 5:00 PM.
This season, only one Community Shield fixture will take place following changes in regulations made by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) due to limited time.
Simba continue with their pre-season training, with the squad currently based in Cairo, Egypt, preparing for the new campaign.
Unfortunately for the Msimbazi Reds, their new striker Jonathan Sowah will miss the encounter as he serves a suspension from a red card.
Sowah was shown a red card during the final of the CRDB Cup last season, and according to regulations, he is required to miss one official match.
However, Simba head coach Fadlu Davids does not see his absence as a major setback, as he still has strong options in the attacking department.
Steven Mukwala remains part of the squad, while new signing Seleman Mwalimu Gomez is awaiting his official unveiling.
In addition, Simba have strengthened their attacking midfield area with the arrival of players like Neo Maema and Morice Abraham, who will provide creativity in a position heavily reliant on Jean Charles Ahoua last season.
Sowah, who has already netted two goals in pre-season friendlies, is expected to return in time for Simba’s opening league fixture this season.
