Yesterday, South Africa’s national team was eliminated from the CHAN tournament after being held to a 3-3 draw by Uganda in a match played at Nelson Mandela Stadium.
South Africa’s captain, Neo Maema, nearly led his team to the quarterfinals, but in the final five minutes their hopes were dashed as they conceded two penalties, losing a 3-1 lead.
While the elimination is a disappointment for South Africa, it may bring joy to Simba fans since one of their players, who was part of the Bafana Bafana squad, is now expected to head to Egypt to continue pre-season training.
That player is Maema, whom Simba fans have been closely following during the tournament, and now they will continue watching him in Simba colors.
Simba is currently in Cairo for the second phase of their pre-season preparations after completing the first phase in the city of Ismailia.
