The CAF club competition draw for the 2025/26 season is taking place this afternoon in Dar es Salaam, where Tanzania’s representatives—Simba, Yanga, Azam FC, and Singida BS—will learn their opponents.
Simba and Yanga will represent Tanzania in the CAF Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida BS will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
According to the draw guidelines, Simba—ranked fifth in CAF standings—and Yanga—ranked 12th—will be paired against teams that are unranked, meaning they have not accumulated any points in the past five years.
This means that in the preliminary round, Tanzania’s Champions League representatives have a strong chance of progressing to the first round, especially since their matches will begin away from home.
Potential opponents for Simba include Wiliete (Angola), Gaborone United (Botswana), US Zilimandjou (Comoros), AC Leopards (Congo), two teams from DR Congo, Nsingizini (Eswatini), Lioli (Lesotho), and Elgeco Plus (Madagascar).
Others include Silver Strikers (Malawi), Cercle de Joachim (Mauritius), African Stars (Namibia), Remo Stars (Nigeria), Cot d'Or (Seychelles), Power Dynamos (Zambia), and Simba Bhora (Zimbabwe).
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Tanzania’s representatives Azam FC and Singida Black Stars could face Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia or one of 17 other clubs from various nations.
