After JKT Tanzania officials stood firm on the availability of central defender Wilson Nangu, who was being pursued by Simba, reports indicate that the Msimbazi bosses have now turned their attention and opened talks with TMA Stars centre-back Vedastus Masinde.
Simba have been fighting to secure the signature of Nangu, who is said to be under contract with the army side until 2028. However, with his club refusing to release him, the Msimbazi leadership has made significant progress in talks for Masinde, who is part of the Taifa Stars squad currently competing in the CHAN tournament.
A reliable source from Simba and a close friend of the player revealed that the club has expressed interest in signing Masinde, who is currently without a contract after his deal with TMA ended when the Championship League concluded.
"It is true that Simba have held talks with Masinde about acquiring his services. So far, it’s unclear how far the talks have gone, but they have shown interest and even sent their representatives to meet the player while he was in the Stars camp," said the player’s friend.
A source within Simba said efforts to secure the player are ongoing, and they believe that if they miss out on Nangu, Masinde would be the right choice to strengthen their defensive options.
"Masinde is a good player and could offer us a lot if we manage to sign him, as he can play across the entire backline — right-back, left-back, and both central defensive positions. He is also a young player who can be developed until he’s ready to be a permanent starter in the squad," said the source from Simba.
