Simba SC is expected to announce the date for this year’s edition of Simba Day, Tanzania’s biggest entertainment and football festival, for 2025.
There has been uncertainty over whether the event would take place this year, mainly due to time constraints, with the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament in Dar es Salaam said to have disrupted the calendar.
Despite this challenge, Simba’s Media and Communications Manager Ahmed Ali has confirmed that the event will go ahead as usual.
"We have a scheduling challenge this year, but we are looking for the most suitable time to host our Simba Day festival."
"The CHAN tournament will continue until August 30, and after that, the Community Shield matches welcoming the new season will start on September 11."
"So the available window is only about one week after CHAN ends. We are considering either September 7 or September 8," Ahmed said.
Additional information from within Simba’s management suggests that the event will most likely be held on September 7, with Kenyan club Police FC tipped to be among the invited teams.
There has also been the challenge of securing an opponent, as many leagues will have already kicked off in September.
