As the new Tanzania Premier League season approaches, Simba SC have kicked off serious preparations by setting up a special training camp in Ismailia, Egypt. The first group of players, which includes last season's stars along with a few new signings who completed their procedures early, is already in camp and undergoing training under the technical bench.
However, not all players have joined the camp at the same time. Some, especially the new foreign signings, had to wait for their travel documentation to be completed before joining the rest. Simba management has confirmed that the necessary processes have now been finalized, and the second group of players is expected to depart from Dar es Salaam soon to join the camp in Egypt.
One of Simba’s officials explained that the delay was due to the visa issuance process for players who were not in the country. These players had to arrive in Dar es Salaam first to process their travel documents before heading to the camp.
He cited the example of Kibu Denis, who arrived in Tanzania on Wednesday and joined the camp on Thursday, alongside new goalkeeper Moussa Camara, who has already started training with the squad.
Among the names fans are eager to see in camp is attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu from DR Congo. Management confirmed that he will be part of the second group heading to Egypt once his paperwork is finalized.
Meanwhile, Simba continue to unveil new signings for the upcoming season. After the announcement of striker Jonathan Sowah, reports suggest the Reds of Msimbazi are set to announce another major signing soon.
Overall, preparations for the new season at Simba appear to be on the right track. Despite minor logistical challenges, expectations are that the full squad will be assembled early enough to allow the coach and his team ample time to fine-tune everything before the season kicks off.
The NBC Premier League 2025/26 is scheduled to begin on September 16, preceded by the Community Shield matches set to be played between September 11 and September 14.
