Simba Head Coach Fadlu Davids has recommended right-back Shomari Kapombe to be the new captain of the Msimbazi Reds.
Kapombe and Mzamiru Yassin are currently the most senior players remaining in the Simba squad following the departure of Mohammed Hussein βZimbwe Jrβ.
Last season, Kapombe served as the second vice-captain, while Fabrice Ngoma β who has also left β was the third vice-captain.
However, before being officially confirmed, Kapombe will undergo a player vote once he joins the team during pre-season camp in Egypt.
Kapombe is currently on national team duty with Tanzania, who will face Burkina Faso tomorrow (Saturday) at Mkapa Stadium in their opening CHAN match.
The CHAN tournament will conclude on August 30 should Tanzania reach the final, after which Kapombe and other Simba players involved will rejoin the squad in Dar es Salaam.
