Attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu has returned to Dar es Salaam from his holiday, joining the Simba SC squad ahead of the 2025β2026 season preparations.
Mpanzu links up with fellow teammates who began arriving earlier this week for the clubβs pre-season training camp, which is set to take place in Egypt.
The DR Congo international, who joined Simba in the mid-season transfer window last season and contributed to 10 goals (4 goals and 6 assists), had been the subject of speculation suggesting he might not return.
His arrival ends a week-long wave of rumors that claimed Mpanzu had contract disputes between Simba and his former club, casting doubt on his future at Msimbazi.
Simba was reportedly determined not to lose the influential midfielder and went as far as organizing special security arrangements for his journey from DR Congo to Dar es Salaam.
"This is a new procedure introduced by Simba to protect players from certain teams attempting to interfere with our transfers. Itβs not just for Mpanzu β all players, including new signings, are given security upon arrival," said a club insider.
