Moroccan club RS Berkane is reported to have submitted an offer to Simba SC for the services of dangerous winger Elie Mpanzu, who is currently one of the key players under head coach Fadlu Davids. However, sources from Msimbazi indicate that Simba is not ready to let go of the player easily.
RS Berkane, the 2024/25 Moroccan Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup champions, are said to have been impressed by Mpanzu’s performance during the second leg of the Confederation Cup final, where he assisted Simba’s goal scored by Joshua Mutale in a 1-1 draw.
In that tournament, Mpanzu truly lit up the stage with his performances, and it’s no surprise that several teams are now knocking on Simba’s door to acquire his services.
Mpanzu joined Simba on September 30, 2024, from AS Vita Club of DR Congo. Despite missing the initial registration deadline of August 15, he was signed for the January 2025 transfer window. Since wearing the red shirt of the “Wekundu wa Msimbazi,” he has displayed exceptional quality, quickly becoming a vital part of the squad.
In just six months, Mpanzu has proven his value by playing a central role in Simba’s successes. He was instrumental in helping the team reach the final of the CAF Confederation Cup and also played a key part in securing second place in the NBC Premier League 2024/25 season, which concluded on June 25, 2025.
His stats speak volumes: in the CAF Confederation Cup, he scored one goal and provided two assists. In the league, he contributed four goals and six assists, meaning he was directly involved in 10 of Simba’s 69 goals.
Due to his outstanding performances, it's no surprise that his name is being linked not only to RS Berkane but also to several European clubs such as Brest FC (Ligue 1 – France), KRC Genk (Belgium), and Malmo FF (Sweden).
However, given how much Simba values Mpanzu and the significant impact he has had on the pitch, the club may be reluctant to let him go—especially if they do not receive a bank-breaking offer.
