Simba SC continues its major squad overhaul ahead of the upcoming Tanzania Premier League season. Following the departure of veteran midfielder Fabrice Ngoma, reports now indicate that another midfielder, Nigerian national Augustine Okejepha, has officially been placed on the transfer list.
Okejepha, who joined Simba last season from Nigeria with an impressive record that included winning the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, was expected to be a key figure in the midfield for the Msimbazi Reds. However, things have turned out differently since his arrival in Dar es Salaam.
The midfielder has failed to meet expectations and struggled to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup. This has led to a decision by the technical bench, led by Head Coach Fadlu Davids, who is now keen on restructuring the midfield to build a stronger and more competitive team.
According to sources within the club, Okejepha has already been informed that he is not in the plans for next season. Simba has granted him permission to explore options with other clubs and is open to either selling him outright or sending him out on loan should a suitor emerge.
This move reflects Simba’s commitment to comprehensive squad improvements following several seasons without major trophies, including missing out on the Premier League title for four consecutive seasons. Coach Fadlu Davids appears to have a clear strategy to build a new, more competitive team.
