After two days of silence, Simba SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ali, has expressed sympathy to Simba fans following their loss to Yanga in the recent Premier League clash—a defeat that also cost them the league title.
Ahmed encouraged Simba supporters not to lose hope but to remain united and continue supporting the team, stressing that although trophies were missed this season, the club has made significant progress.
Through his social media page, Ahmed posted the following message:
“Let me begin by expressing my sympathy to Wanasimba for ending the season without a championship in the competitions we participated in, especially the NBC Premier League.
Fellow Wanasimba, let’s avoid pressure from those trying to convince us we've failed completely.
It’s true we didn’t win the league, but we’re all witnesses to how much progress our team has made compared to previous years. That was our goal—to build a competitive team.
This season, we reached the CAF final for the first time in 31 years.
The league title this season was decided in the final 45 minutes of the last match, whereas last season we were fighting just to finish third.
The number of points we earned this season hasn’t been reached in the past four years.
Where we’ve come from and where we are now is vastly different. The light of success is not far from us.
It’s not the first time Simba has gone four years without winning a title—we once went five years (2012–2017) without a championship, but in 2018 we came back and won four consecutive titles.
Losing five straight matches to our archrival shouldn't make us doubt ourselves.
Even Real Madrid lost four El Clásicos in a row to Barcelona, with heavy defeats, but you never see them insulting themselves.
It’s not something to be proud of, but we must accept that such phases happen in football.
Despite their stature, Manchester United have now gone 13 years without winning the league—I won’t even mention Arsenal.
These examples remind us that we’re not alone in these kinds of struggles, and even those mocking us now have had their tough moments.
My request to my fellow Wanasimba: let’s give our leaders space to evaluate the situation and then guide us on the way forward in fighting for our beloved Simba.
