Simba SC has begun efforts to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season by being linked with a move for Al Hilal (Sudan)’s left-back, Khadim Diaw, aged 26. The move is aimed at adding depth and competition to their current captain, Mohamed Hussein 'Tshabalala'.
According to reports from within Simba’s management, the club is planning to part ways with Burkinabé defender Valentine Nouma, who is said to have requested to leave due to lack of consistent playing time in the starting lineup.
Nouma has also failed to offer strong enough competition to Tshabalala, who, despite his significant contributions, appears fatigued due to being overused.
“Simba is in the process of talking to various local and foreign players to improve the squad for the upcoming season,” a source from within the club revealed.
The final decisions on who will stay or leave will be based on a report from coach Fadlu Davids. Simba has set high targets for next season, including reclaiming the Tanzanian Premier League title and performing well in the CAF Champions League.
Khadim Diaw, who is on Simba’s radar, is a key player for Al Hilal, who reached the quarterfinals of this season’s CAF Champions League. He also played a role in helping the club win the Mauritanian Premier League title despite being a guest team in that competition.
If this signing goes through, it would mark a significant step in Simba’s defensive rebuild, aiming to increase squad competition and build a solid backline to help the club achieve its ambitious goals.
