Ahead of the Kariakoo Derby, Simba SC failed to attend the second preparatory meeting for the highly anticipated match scheduled to be played tomorrow at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, and will therefore be fined TSh 500,000.
Earlier this morning, Simba also failed to appear at the coaches' and media briefing held at the headquarters of the league’s main sponsor, while Yanga SC was present.
This regulatory meeting required the teams’ coaches and captains to address the media in the build-up to the match that is set for tomorrow.
Yanga arrived at the hotel and went on to meet with the referee assessor from Somalia, Alli Mohamed, and the match commissioner, Salim Singano.
However, the referees assigned to officiate the match—center referee Amin Omar and his assistants Mahmoud El Regal and Samir Mohamed, all from Egypt—were not present at the meeting.
It is now clear that Simba will face an additional fine and may also be denied the opportunity to conduct training at the match venue for failing to submit their schedule during the meeting.
